Success can be the greatest hindrance

Yes some awards indicate  craziness and this  is not confined to Chennai or TN .

It is a global phenomenon in addition to awards we have titles and doctorates.

In a way I am happy that ChatGPT can churn out more PhDs in the realm of PhDs for PhDs sake ( with stereotyped methodology , questionnaires, mostly in binaries or some times 4 options and the fifth is marked as others these are coupled with dumb guides and  dubious peer reviews) with better quality imbued with more data,  multiple citations, heaps of surveys based on multi-factor questionnaires and hell a lot of such stuff without any creative contribution, original experimental and experience based inputs which can offer results.

Depending on the hype, publicity and sponsorships these are made to make the recipient more worthy and visible beyond their usual orbit.

Certain awards to some persons are really worthy but those who are really worthy and are aware of their worthiness don't care for these awards. They are impervious to the impact of awards and care less for any usual paradigms of success.

Success can be the greatest hindrance at times as that becomes a static reference point which may prevent someone from trying different things/ looking for multiple options.

This was precisely why Tendulkars, Kapil Devs, Advanis lingered around beyond their expiry date.
