Social media is faceless and egoless platform

Social media is not meant to be misused to generate controversies or sensationalism as already MSM is in that business and they are big time players in that field.

Nor is social media meant to be always blindly forwarding some items, though there is joy in sharing something that one feels interesting and impelled to share with certain circles of people with similar interests.

However, mere mechanical deluge of posts may stifle debate, stifle thought, and stifle discussion.

It is as bad as cooked up and biased lies presented as statics in MSM along with pleasant slides of graphs and charts all made to drown in the noise which are used to replace thoughts and ideas.

Data for the sake of data to create an illusion of activity and thereby mask the inactivity is also used to delude many as recently one political outfit did by splurging tax payers’ money on advertisements in all MSM.

In this context it becomes imperative to dispel facts and information which get masked by ulterior motives.

On the one hand we accept all sorts of sanitized versions of history written by paid agents and distorians, perverted media profiling and nasty narrations all passed off as popular perceptions and on other hand fanatics who lay claim to everything great and good on earth to only to some ancient Indian scriptures.

Let us instead try to authenticate whatever facts we come across, express our opinions without fear or favor or fervor but with a sense of balance emanating from rational humanism.

We need to use any technology to make life and living better, comfortable, easy, happy, peaceful, useful and more meaningful as we do with electricity.

The Internet and social media are one such wherein everyone must benefit from ego-less expressions, faceless talents and fearless but sensible opinions, preferably not hurting any perceived ideological outfits as more and more people have lost even any sense of humor.

Anything and everything can be magnified into a controversy and therefore it would be advisable to tread with diplomatic vocabulary.

Social Media Knowledge and understanding

Of late there has been lot of debates about lack of understanding and more knowledge in the social media.

It is good and incidentally several years back Aldous Huxley wrote a wonderful but long essay on this topic ‘Knowledge and Understanding’ and surprisingly one may find a  pdf of half the essay in Sri Ramankrishna Mission site.

Coming back to the subject.

It has become normal to confuse information for knowledge;

Knowledge for experience and thought;

Ideas formulated based on these for wisdom;

The problem is as these may inadvertently lead to an arrogance which may create unassailable prejudice, petrified presumption and start projecting what we know or think we know or presume as some great piece of tool to decipher the puzzle of life as panacea.

The most important facts of humility are that our perception or understanding based on whatever  may be the source of knowledge is defective or at least not totally prefect and therefore there is nothing that can be construed as a panacea in this world.

Education is the enlightened awareness and acceptance of facts of inevitable evolution of everything and experiencing life as a flow of all or some them as they emerge through the churning process of life where they express the multiple dimensions of everything and the various dynamics of each dimension emanating from inherent attributes as well as a reaction to external impacts.

Life is an unmapped atlas where we are not even sure whether all pieces of the jigsaw puzzles are there to create a shape.

Lot depends on proceeding on unbiased observations beyond or besides or if necessary even without existing loads of knowledge because the existing bunch of knowledge could also act as a conditioning factor if we are not alert and totally divert our understanding of anyone or anything.

Besides all these there are also factors like our attitudes towards multiple interpretations, ideological identity based inhibitions to accept certain things, attitudes and overall perspective towards what we encounter etc.

That is why it becomes a necessity to not to take on extreme positions in anything and instead maintain a balanced view.

Extreme positions can blur the view from seeing the multiple possibilities that may exist everywhere.

Phenella writes in “The Unwritten Comedy”.
“To be ignorant of many things is expected
To know you are ignorant of many things is the beginning of wisdom.
To know a category of things of which you are ignorant is the beginning of learning.
To know the details of that category of things of which you are ignorant is to no longer be ignorant.”

“Everything changes as you move through three stages of awareness:
first, that beliefs are the result of conditions;
second, that beliefs are the cause of conditions;
and third, that beliefs are themselves conditions.”
― Eric Micha'el Leventhal

“All of us have our own inner fears, beliefs, opinions. These inner assumptions rule and govern our lives. A suggestion has no power in and of itself. Its power arises from the fact that you accept it mentally.”
― Joseph Murphy, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind

We, most of us, swing as a pendulum between excuses and justifications with a keenness to convince others and end up coming with answers like these: - A tourist guide who, when once, a lady asked him “How a row of fine rock formation were piled up”, said “they have been piled up here by the glaciers”. When she anxiously asked him “Where are the glaciers?” he replied “Madam, they have gone back to get some more rocks”. Such replies are often the result of ignorance, half-knowledge or impatience or all of these.

The problem with human beings unlike other species is that we are consciously aware and we can also collect, store and retrieve data and reuse them. This faculty along with our intellectual thinking and reasoning powers hamper us from having humility to accept the mere fact that there are many unknown as well as unknowable elements to life as a whole and even in our individual lives.

We either act or react according to what we want, what we can and what we are destined to. At different times either one of these three predominates i.e. what we want, we can we are destined to do.

Knowledge, Information, Thoughts, Ideas and Teachings are ingredients,
Understanding is making them into a tasty cooked food,
Grasping and Interpretations are the utensils used for cooking,
Learning is the process of cooking a tasty, easily digestible, nutritious food.

Is ORKUT coming back?

Is ORKUT coming back?

Orkut went out in the first place because as per international surveys it had more than 80% of only juvenile stuff and that too of stereotyped sharing.

In my opinion , in a way that was catering to children between 8 to 16 or 18 years and could have continued as a platform for them .

Now, WhatsApp is flooded by more juvenile GM msgs and all sorts negative , humourless memes [mostly stereotyped ones and themes being predicatbly political stuff or some filmy gossip or routine refrains of glories on different religious outfits] .

Actually it is full of FORWARD class who keep forwarding even without reading it. Like some Suresh kumar is brain dead and his kidneys have been available for the past 2 years on WhatsApp!!!

The problem is not with any platform but the users fault and lack of original content.

Almost all platforms are starved of original content.

Like our Indian films and serials, they are caught in a vicious circle where the viewers blame the producers trends and commercial constraints and the producers blame the viewers tastes and demands and as a result we never have serials like Lie to Me, Big bang, Grey's Anatomy, House, Castle, Bold and Beautiful.

We are struck between new nonsense and sensational stereotypes and trite traditions.

We don't have the mentality to allow transition from traditions and tested trends into the terrain of transformation especially in the field of entertainment and social media content.

We  are all aware that everyone is racing  against time without the luxury of  leisure time , except the blessed retired people , and therefore attention span is shrinking  too much that we are going back to Avaiyar the first SMS creator  and Tiruvalluvar the first Twitter creator.

I have been suggesting to our lethargic tourism department to make short documentaries on many  wonderful places in India and its many traditions and cultures like www.nasdaily.com [ what an excellent work that 5 individuals as a team do].

We have  youth with immense potential and energy but without guidance, encouragement and freedom to pursue  their passions.

No doubt the world at present has immense opportunities for those who are street smart and /or focused but then there are equally powerful constraints  of  financial investment  and  socio-religio-cultural presssures.

Verbification and its vibration of positive vibes

Verbification and its vibration of positive vibes.

 Today’s (05.03.2018)TOI Chennai edition page 12.

‘The overachieving Verbs’

It is much needed to mute overhyped suffocation by excessive mediafication.

Verbification vibrates with positive vibes.

Very loaded verbose version of  verbification in the write up smacks a bit of mediafication (i.e. exclusive privileged club involved in peddling opinions - often cleverly masking reality and appropriation of adorable appellations to themselves and assigning low and lewd labels to a selective few- along with swelling jealousy that the social media has enabled the masses to do what the exclusive club of main stream media were doing- nonstop opinion sprinkling, gossip generating, fear mongering with victimhood peddling etc.

On the contrary, if one is not afflicted by senility and sense of insecurity, one would positively welcome the active participation of everyone as sincere involvement in any subject taking seriously any issue to their heart and head.

It is this spirit of participative committed involvement creating enough noise to drown the din of main stream media that is here to say whether we like it or not; whether we want it or not; whether view it as good or bad.

More the merrier may prove true even in the arena of thoughts, ideas, views and opinions.

Main stream media is no more a secured fortress for the indulgence of exclusive club of mass opinion moulders and scandals suppliers.

Internet and mobile handsets in every hand empowers dissemination of news in real time everywhere.

Social Media’s many voices mute the MSM mafia.

Social Media’s many voices mute the MSM mafia.

The 24 hours of inevitable churning involving contradictions and constant change throws out of gear the control freaks in the form of mass opinion molders.

       1. So desperate is the MSM that they do not miss any opportunity to show their disgust  for this social media          calling them as ‘‘English –driven social-media echo chambers’ because Social media are trumping paid and      prejudiced news.

2.Jealousy driven, frustration filled club of media mafia who lived in the sanctuary of  comfort where they     felt that peddling lies, opinions , twisted presentation of news with hidden agenda of provocation were their           sole preserve.

3. Their only qualification being misinterpreting, misquoting and maligning their chosen targets with impunity               and worse still gloated over their status of mass opinion molders.

4. These media channel room heroes, in some cases Romeos thought that their sanctuary will never be invaded by any force and they could burn anyone or any truth or fact in their toxic gas chambers of Left or paid patrons’ ideology.

5. Unfortunately, they have been upset by unexpected technology which enabled people to capture facts in real time and also vent their views on various dimensions of any issue so they call this force of social media users as ‘English –driven social-media echo chambers’ as this echo is gradually silencing the 24/7 news channel cacophony.

6. What about paid MSM extremism before and after advent of social media.

7. This debate itself is because biased and paid MSM feels unsettled by social media. [SM]

8. Confirmation bias promoting, opinion and judgment peddling are no more sole preserve of MSM.

9. Everyone can express what touches the heart, triggers the adrenal or tosses the mind or makes one feel that it can be good for humanity.

10. MSM alone has no exclusive copy rights for social engineering anymore.

         11. It is an age of missiles of multiple mindsets and aspirations and myriad perspectives and perceptions                  where moderation is marginalized and aggression is adored.

12. Social media’s popularity itself stems from some of the above and besides, of course, the usual human attributes of attention seeking, gossiping, rumor mongering and impulse to communicate and share.

13. In these processes SM has taught Newton's 3rd   Law of motion to MSM.

14. If people want only palatable sermons plenty of scriptures out there, literature and life are lively because of stories and experiences.

15. Avoid attempts at homogenization and control of opinions and aspirations. It has failed everywhere starting from craze of Roman Empire to Nazism to Stalinism even in limited geographical area because nature is variety.

16. Life goes through its own churning process and evolution plays its part in all spheres unmindful of lofty preachers or news and nuisance peddlers.

17. Sense of balance must prevail over emotionalism. It would be nice if everyone and everything also evolve along with awareness of these inevitable facts.

18. Science and technology must be used as a medium for this along with providing physical and mental comforts.

19. Religions must emphasis utility to life rather than parading and taking pride in number of adherents or superiority of cult like following.

20. Economies must ensure better and happier life for maximum number with collective participation of all while ensuring minimum damage to environment.

21.Nations and politicians must realize that humanity is better served if  it functions as a global unit devoid of specific real estate veneration, refrain from interfering in others affairs, avoid hysteric reactions to historic blunders etc.

22.So, social media extremism or exchange of ideas, ideologies and information and so on go to reflect all the sensitivities of  identities which are prevalent in the society, which resists unity amid variety.

23. A society where social media savors the benefits of globalization but supports xenophobia.

24. Where on one side traditional practices are giving way to rational questioning and another side emphasizes more and more of traditions with justifications and excuses.

Social media versus main stream media mafia

Social media trumping paid and prejudiced news

Mr.Chidanand Rajghatta’s particular write up ‘RBI change an example of politics trumping good governance’ in TOI page 16 Chennai edition dated 21st June reveals the sub conscious anger and fear of wound and worry that worthy news through social media [‘English –driven social-media echo chambers’ ]replaces willful misrepresentation by main stream media.

So desperate that MSM that they do not miss any opportunity to show their disgust for this social media trumping paid and prejudiced news.

Jealousy driven, frustration filled club of media mafia who lived in the sanctuary of comfort where they felt that peddling lies, opinions , twisted presentation of news with hidden agenda of provocation were their sole preserve.

Their only qualification being misinterpreting, misquoting and maligning their chosen targets with impunity and worse still gloated over their status of mass opinion molders.

Twitter

No need to worry about any social media read this in link below my rejoinder in attachment.
Twitter is actually a great tool

1. Well written and worthy observations and most of it are very relevant to take note of.

2. However, Twitter actually has immense business potential. I will give a brief outline later on how.

3. Besides, coming back to the predominant feature of your observations, is there a domain which has not been misused, over used or abused or misinterpreted starting from well meaning socio religious morals, to scientific and technological tools to nuclear power to media propaganda to political power to business operations? No.

4. The positives of all social media networks is that it has taken the exclusive privilege and preserve of a few of opinion peddlers, cocooned in their own comfortable ideological identities, like established media houses and instead empowered many to freely express their counter views.

5. So in a way the mass opinion molding and propaganda industry operating through select media houses has been greatly affected both in terms of their business and also in terms of their protected domain of influence.

6. As the number of people expression opinions/criticizing etc is more, we may see more abuse in certain issues.

7. Equivalently there are many useful, meaningful exchanges of information, knowledge, policies, and practices etc which are shared by greater number of people.

8. There is nothing wrong by the fundamental function of the tool as it is. It is the user who defines it as a good new sharp knife in a war front can be used for emergency operation or cutting the throat of anyone around. The knife or its sharpness is not at fault.

9. So, all social media networks are different emerging stars in the sky, not passing clouds, each with its own influence and impact.

10. It can actually enhance enormously through introducing many new simple features, upgrading certain functions, incorporating many apps, having tie ups with other stars in social media in the horizon etc

Social media - its presence and purpose

In places like India it is indeed a boon that social media is there.

Otherwise the whole popular main stream media is entrenched in die hard leftist ideology that getting to look at happenings from any other perspective will be hard.

Because of social media people across the globe are at least remotely participating or aware of what is going on in the world, otherwise it was a monopoly of media mafia which censored, controlled, endorsed and directed the whole news.

But for social media the world would never know the reality of Greek plight.

No doubt there are times when we have a overflow of versions of truth, extremism unleashed from various sources under a convenient mask of social media  but the fact of the power and pervasiveness of social media cannot be either wished away or restricted by any means.

The evolution of social media was a natural outcome to perform the balancing act of checking the peddlers of prescribed, preferred and paid news.

I think time has come to make main stream media realize that more people are more interested in economic developmental activities and progress rather than wasting their time on debates on certain labels which a major section of the media appropriates and diverts attention from real performances and problems.

Public had enough of the MSM's selective amnesia and collective indifference.

I have written extensively about the misuse of freedom by the MSM.

Their priorities are based purely  on this selective ideological and paid amnesia are on sensationalism, scandal mongering, and TRP hunting and self publicity of percentage of viewership [so pathetic to see the state to which they have degraded themselves like some politicians].

MSM is like GREECE at the mercy of advertisers and sponsors but they cannot perennially misuse and abuse that. Read the below link and also to many other links that it leads to.

Media Houses- Beware of the reverse trend.

Media Houses- Beware of the reverse trend.

Read this unbiased and excellent article I got from a mail in the following link

and my comments to the above article here

Excellent you have captured very well with an open mind devoid of hidden agenda, ulterior motive etc.  You have placed on record reality and facts as they are. Just two days back I started a write up on some national with a quote "We can evade reality, but we cannot evade the consequences of evading reality."  Ayn Rand and ended it with another quote “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” John Adams.

In the Modi debate what has become very glaring and sickening is the most abysmal levels to which the paid media has stooped to just to please, project and protect one family and do false propaganda against all those who question that family’s misdeeds endangering the very ethos of the nation and more against those who they perceive as an hindrance to their continued control and loot of the nation and naturally Modi  is the numero uno enemy.
What they want to strangulate by dubious means and what the popular paid media both in print and audio visual do not realize is the reverse trend that is taking place in many areas of life.

Heroes at films because of their popularity appeared on TV promos and/or after retirement managed to migrate to play some roles in some TV soaps as a sort of retirement benefit but now many new and upcoming small screen stars are more popular and many of them are sought after for different roles by many film makers.

Similarly well established and reliable test cricketers were preferred for one dayers and T20s but now in many countries across the globe those who shine purely in T20s get easily selected for national teams for one dayers and tests.

Similarly majority of the educated youth are able to see the blatant lies and bias of the paid press reporters and TV anchors and therefore the preferred and reliable news is sought online either through various means  in the internet and social media.
