Rice cultivation is a major source of Green house gases.
The flooding of water prevents oxygen from entering soil. Microbes anaerobic decomposition gives out methane. Rice is perhaps the biggest contributor to carbon load.
This has been doing its rounds for 2 to 3 days now. Very superficial and quite wrong in parts. The strange justification that he gives for 'thanni in varappu' is quite funny. But he has a way of presenting which makes people listen. But dangerous science theories.
The over cultivation of paddy ( and also wheat) is disastrous ecologically and also for consumers. We are used to it and we like it but we need not extoll its non existent virtues.
