Politicians belong
to a tribe. There are certain unwritten practices that this tribe
practises.
In that everything
works or operates primarily for votes and political mileage of any party
anywhere in the world.
Everything else is
unintended consequences, incidental and/or accidental benefits or
concomitant aspects or inevitable sequences etc.
They predominantly
act depending on what comes within the radar of attention and
certain priorities based on their power dynamics related aspects.
It may include some
or all of these, political expediency, opportunistic compromises and so
on.
Usually,
politicians have a natural ability to be proactive or to react quickly and
spontaneously ( throwing caution, repercussions, diplomacy to the winds).
They have readymade
pet and catchy slogans to bet on the patchy emotional vulnerabilities of many
and for the consumption of anyone who dares to question their actions they
justify by saying their actions are based on larger interest and long-term benefits
of the society when their term itself will get decided every election or till
next dictator takes over.
Both religion and
politics play a dominant role in society because people tend to outsource many
life-related issues to these agencies for various reasons or as a matter of
habit and tradition.
