Mere temple hopping is not tourism as museum hopping is not in the UK.
India geographically is a great country with unbelievable natural splendours and wonders.
We have failed all these years and now too fail to promote even an iota of tourism per se.
Is Vivekananda Rock at kanyakumari a tourist spot, leave alone its other great significance, anyone who has visited any tourist location in the USA will tell you that in India that location alone can get a few thousand crores in revenue.
But the pathetic situation is you don't get any memorabilia either a key chain or a fridge magnet or a view card or book or a t- shirt with Vivekananda Rock or the beach with three seas coming together.
We don't even have a proper cruise.
Same with Mathura.
I think our tourism department needs to think about and to look at things besides and beyond mere temples hoping for pilgrimage tours.
