Arun Shourie

Well said and well written.

I too was a great admirer of Arun Shourie and I even wrote a short piece on his observations in December 2014 amid the busy music season in Chennai.

Then I have only these quotes from one of my favorite Sufi writer of practical wisdom and leave it for readers to draw their own conclusions.

One thing is certain when men with vision and missionary zeal embark on a task they will succeed despite all the hurdles and that has been one of the few consistent law of lessons drawn from history.

“MAN: Kick him-he'll forgive you. Flatter him-he may or may not see through you. But ignore him and he'll hate you”  Idries Shah

“Study the assumptions behind your actions. Then study the assumptions behind your assumptions.”
 Idries Shah, Learning How to Learn: Psychology and Spirituality in the Sufi Way

“If you want to make an ordinary man happy, or think that he is happy, give him money, power, flattery, gifts, honours. If you want to make a wise man happy - improve yourself!”  Idries Shah, Reflections

 “It is not important to have said a thing first, or best - or even most interestingly. What is important is to say it on the right occasion.”  Idries Shah, Reflections

“You have not forgotten to remember;
You have remembered to forget.
But people can forget to forget. That is just as important as remembering to remember - and generally more practical.”
Idries Shah, Reflections

 “Opinion is usually something which people have when they lack comprehensive information.”  Idries Shah, Reflections

“A real secret is something which only one person knows.”  Idries Shah, Reflections

Inflated egos cannot scream in desperation rather they must gracefully retire and graciously guide the mission of good governance, economic development etc for the sake of posterity.

Neither preening and parading the past glory nor pandering to please all activities can ensure that. Only practical implementation of certain measures can deliver that.

Unfortunately the same Arun Shourie made me write this last week.

Award wapsies

Award Wapsi is good

We must appreciate their unflinching loyalty transcends beyond mere gratitude in to something bordering on blind obedience-euphemism for servitude- in the process their self declaration of ideological and political identity, affiliation and exposes themselves that it [loyalty] was the reason why they got the awards.

This is victory as we know the influence of political link and patronage of one family and leftists in all domains be it science, arts, music ,literature etc imagine in business.

Govt must immediately give it to more deserving people who have been omitted before for ideological reasons. More than anything else the GOI intelligence agencies must be used in full swing to expose the NGO-Media-Left mafia nexus along with all these so called awardees who are wrongly labeled as Indian intelligentsia.

Arun Shourie's observations and Jaggi's Concerns

With all respects to all senior leaders who are not holding any post in Government and to all paranoiac diagnosis and analysis of Modi not doing much on perception front, as human being and a as an Indian let me set it straight.

                                                          Part-I

1. Performance speaks for itself and does not require certificates from enemies, frenemies, frustrated seniors craving for posts and attention, least of all from India’s English media.

2. This performance has in fact effected such a paradigm shift in the very perception of Indian politics that every political party, every state, every politician is feeling the need to at least talk about economic development. Not the perception quotient that media wants.

3. Sheer strength and magnitude of whatever performance has taken place has been because at last we have a leader who as Barbara Marciniak said, “Everything changes when you start to emit your own frequency rather than absorbing the frequencies around you, when you start imprinting your intent on the universe rather than receiving an imprint from existence.”

4. There is no need to hanker after media certificates and it is not government’s business nor priority to waste energy, time and money on media management which it is high time that media houses did it themselves otherwise they will be totally swept away by social media.

5.  Magnanimity and honesty requires helping, appreciating or at least acknowledging many positives and progressive measures and activities that have happened in all spheres of economy. Actually the list is much more than all the past 60 years put together in terms of its positive long term impact on economy. Every player cannot be in the playing eleven.

6.  Bulb inside the lamp post which helps you to find your house by remaining far away must not be feeling left out and find fault with the bulb inside your drawing room. On the contrary it must feel proud that helped to show the way and that there is light inside the room than darkness which was the case for almost 6 decades.

 7. Meaning is injected when we emphasis substance over superficiality; performance over mere planning and projections; actions over tall talk; properly prioritizing things even if they are not politically correct [may not get brownie points in terms of vote garnering gimmicks- an obsession of next election minding politicians].

8. Modi wants to inject substance into every area of Indian governance and sincerely and seriously prefers to push that over superficiality.

He is improving the image and importance of every vital institution to enhance its credibility in the eyes of all through certain restructuring process involving justification through transparent and ethically high standards for those institutions at all levels.

Closing down certain institutions which have outlived their relevance, like The Planning Commission of India.

Getting rid of many outdated laws and practices like attestation by gazetted officers etc.

9. Modi wanted to ensure delivery of benefits to the deserving for example   started it by opening bank accounts for millions who never knew what it was,  made people voluntarily give up subsidies, started Swatch Bharath, Digital India, Insurance and pension for many etc.

Started new and improved institutions to ensure transparent, efficient and better governance and quick delivery like NITI AAYOG etc

10. To any unbiased observer the present government of India irrespective of whichever party is ruling, whoever is the leader or whoever is taking credit for all that is happening, as a nation, India is doing certain things with long term vision which are very good and vital for not only the economic development, governance etc but for the very sustenance of faith in the institutions of governance, delivery of necessary things for decent life of all and overall sustained growth of civilized life.

 I am a great fan of Arun Shourie and have made it a point to read all his articles [given in link below] which gives us an idea of the inevitable metamorphosis of the individual for various reasons. Here are his articles and I wish he makes his book ‘Does He Know a Mother’s Heart?’ freely available on the net because there his heart speaks loudly and his mind seeks intelligent answers, in his usual unbiased very intelligent ways, to the noise of his heart. http://arunshouri.blogspot.in/

                                                                   Part-II

Seniors render your advice by all means  to ministers/departments but do not address MSM and please know why?

1. I have great respect for Arun Shourie for various reasons and therefore value his suggestions, advises and veiled criticisms.

2. Government of India had a late marriage between Government and Governance after six decades and wants to deliver a worthy baby called economic development with all its concomitant boons and banes.

3. Just because of late marriage we cannot expect baby in two months.
4. Government is not village festival where everybody who is somebody has to be pleasantly welcomed, paid adequate attention and given enough importance.
5. Seniors’ advice is welcome and they should convey it directly to the minister /department concerned rather than addressing main stream media- the least credible and most active anti-development institution who end up using everyone and every event as a tool to divert attention from real issues and delay progress of the nation.
6. Indian media [MSMs] has stopped long back reporting facts or giving sane analysis but only twits statements and facts to suit interpretations tailor made to their confirmation bias which is anti-Modi and they do it under the presumption that they are the exclusive privileged opinion peddlers forgetting the social media exposes MSM’s dubious designs.
7. Humble appeal to all seniors not to desperately seek attention and preferably accept the inevitable known as graceful retirement.

8. Next generation players and leaders have to be groomed with on field experience. It is not like classical music circuits where some senior and well known artists give concerts even beyond seventy years and their disciples go beyond sixty years without ever getting a chance to perform alone.
9. I cried reading Arun Shourie’s great work ‘Does He Know a Mother’s Heart?’ packed with pensive information from scriptures, practical wisdom and penetrative intellectual perception and it helped me realize that everything in life cannot be subjected to mere dry intellectual analysis alone

10. Let not senior leaders whom everyone respects become a tool to sensationalism and scandal marketers otherwise called as India’s MSMs

Indian Economic Growth story under NDA

Indian Economic Growth story under NDA

Indians are known for their unloving criticism or uncritical love; of late India is known for too many arm chair critics and excessive analysts who question every action done with good intention especially if those arm chairs critics or their lobby are not getting any exclusive benefits and they are not able to explain or fit what is happening into definitions that they already know.
You are correct we, I mean India, is doing well under the given circumstances. I wish you had used million shades instead of 100 shades.
Come back at least mentally to Ranganathan street and see the shades of blouses in a single color, does not the evaluation of economy of a country as large and as plural as India needs more shades.
Economics, like life and all its many other domains, is not something that is static to fit into existing or known models of straight jacket definitions alone. It is more of freakonomics.
So whether it is growth story or any other story there are certain fundamentals which need to be very carefully handled namely perception, proper evaluation and projection of pertinent data.
Read this when you have time

Media's dubious projection

1. Indian media has been dominated by a dangerous breed of  leftover Indian Left who have also incidentally appropriated the label liberal [ a questionable term by itself]; pseudo intellectuals [whose knowledge is confined to what certain institutes in US of A want to feed]  have appropriated the label intelligentsia; pseudo secularists [ here secularism is anything anti-Hindu and sometimes anti- Christian too because the chopping of a Christian professor's hand did not upset  the concept of secularism].

2. These worthies have been funded and projected as the official intellectual voice of India by vested interest lobbies, PR  mills, political dispensation that ruined India for 6 decades.

3. Is it not  a scam to use public money to sponsor the trips abroad along with PM of UPA of selected private media houses? Why the present Govt is not probing into this?

4. Anyway the media, most of the English media is anti-India and therefore is not likely to remain without peddling lies, engineering scandals, imputing motives to GOI, interpreting everything to implicate anyone who is not sponsoring them etc.

5. I have been writing a lot about MSM filth which is a actual malign cancer  which impacts the collective psychology of Indian youth.

6. Though they will be left out gradually like the leftover LEFT or consigned Cong but then the damage would be heavy like it has happened to two great states Kerala and Bengal suffering without industrial development  for 6 decades forcing them to migrate as nurses, laborers,  chai vendors all over the globe while locally not allowing any company to function.

Genome mapping

‘Prevention is better than cure’ but what is prevention? It is preparedness with appropriate and adequate data and using relevant activities or technologies to ensure maximum extent of prevention.
On an average most Indians spend at least one to two lakhs on wedding ceremonies. If the same amount spent on 5 year old child of your can make you take all the preventive care for most of the probable diseases, disorders and biological difficulties that your child is likely to face in life would not you spend on that.
Most Indian spend a lot on death ceremonies too which continue for many years.
Think of all these cumulative expenses and choose to do something more positive.

Knowledge and truth is real empowerment, prevention, protection, best tool for planning especially in the field of genome mapping it will act a blue print or ready reference manual for treatment and even insurance policies can be suitably designed either in terms of loading or reducing premiums.

Benefits for a common man are Genome map analysts, specialist doctors in specific fields, hospitals, insurers all together along with the individual can make an authentic evaluation of probable health or disease.

Gandhi Jayanthi

Gandhi special –good things that you do not get from MSM
Peace and Harmony are defined indirectly by wanting too much of same Identity in everyone and everywhere and want of  Tolerance
1. Must read more importantly must listen piece of Raghupathy ragahva by Pandit DV Paluskar, vaishnava janatho by Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan on Sithar, Gun dham HamareyGandhiji in S.D. Burman’s voice , Suno Suno by Rafi, Sabarmati Ke Sant Tune Kare Diya Kamal  by Asha Bhosle all in this link.

Award returns good

Returning awards by the politically motivated group is a non issue. Actually we as a nation need less of certain things because
India has too many of these and needs to weed them out  one by  one for real development.

More critics than performers;
More  media trials than all courts put together;
More experts than victims or issues;
More awards than deserving people;
More political parties than number of constituencies;
More NGOs working for poor than the number of actual poor people;
More departments than number of bureaucrats;
More criminals than police force;
More companies than products manufactured;
More news Channels [nuisance channels] than news items;
Real Swatch Bharath needs to weed out some of these.
Happy at least in one area there is voluntary cleaning up happening.

Media Filth

Well written article Sadanand Dhume The myth of dictator Modi’ in today’s 24/9 TOI. I wish you had titled it ‘The filth of dictated media’. It is dictated to do certain things with payment.
One of Modi’s greatest contributions to Indians is exposing maladies of MSM’s selective amnesia, collective indifference, and penchant for scandals, sensationalism, gossips, confirmation bias, and unwillingness to accept facts.
Media bias, like congress corruption has reached such a saturation point, similarly getting dumped so badly that actually less number of people are watching news channels and even those watching them are watching for brief period.
Recently  they realized that MSM was more keen on manufacturing one more husband for Indirani rather than seriously debating with any psychiatrist or social psychologist the causes for such anomalies [of both genders] or even bothering to debate to get justice to someone and bring someone to justice. It was portrayed as Indirani episode as if Das, khana, Mukherjee were all innocent passing clouds or nice responsible husbands. All gender defenders were silenced by the enormity of MSM’s one sided projection of the  whole episode.
I only wish sense prevails among media persons, they bother to see facts before shoving in their unsolicited exalted judgments. FDI in media is a welcome and long due.
I also wish the present government to probe the scam of using tax payer’s money for sponsoring select private media persons’ trips abroad along with PM MMS during UPA regime.
