A nation, like
an individual or any institution must focus on many factors on a priority
basis.
If we look at it
from that perspective, I think we are getting overloaded by MSM and SM which
make many to get hyper obsessed with politics and religion at the expense of
other aspects of living, especially socio-economic progress.
Thus, everyone
ends up spending as much time as, sometimes more than, the professional
politicians and religious priests and preachers, talking, reading and writing
about these topics.
After all,
those two are means to deliver certain things to individuals and society. They
are supposed to do so through many means and methods.
Primarily
politics must prioritise governance and all its concomitant activities (
getting to positions of power has its own dynamics-some are welcome some not
good for society).
Similarly,
religion is supposed fulfil various aspects of social harmony.
No doubt
both these have permeated in every domain and end up influencing / imposing
sometimes excessively, that one cannot afford to ignore, but everyone can move
on without this competitive claims/ counter claims, superiority etc.
Just open the
Atlas, look at the overall ( macro level) economic status and social
conditions of the nations and see what individuals and governments
prioritise in their life. Religion will be of least
importance.
