Geopolitics of Present Day may not be
easily definable in one size fit all terminologies.
Politics of present day, more so,
geopolitics, like every domain the human
history, has acquired various new
aspects , dimensions and is subjected to multiple dynamics.
However, it has also retained certain
fundamentals as part of its inevitable attribute, which are often confined to
vote bank politics involving local/regional issues.
In way that is why we may say that politics, especially electoral
politics, and political outfits, are social coelacanths ( living fossils
that have stayed much the same while everything around has changed).
But at the same time trying to
oversimplify or to over generalize and to ascribe a few conspiracy theories
will make us not to take note of several factors which are uniquely regional,
and context specific issue based.
Whatever be the ‘methods and terminologies’
[terminological terrorism is the first step-telesis of
terminology is a subject that has been neglected consciously by linguistics
psychology. Coining a terminology is to wind the coils of frame of references
to perceive the world in a specific wired way-often in ideological binaries or
dichotomies] that the West tries to use to homogenize
[which incidentally is the curse of the Western conceptual approach which
is against nature, and which has been responsible for setting an agenda of
negative mindset which eventually has led to various human generated
destructive actions].
This homogenization has led to
hegemonize and command easily. If you want to list, all that we need to do is
just to run through history, even the history that they themselves cannot deny.
A short list may run like this:- This globalization mania is the
product of that incurable sick obsession of the western psyche,
namely, homogenization.
If
we glimpse through the annals of history, we can observe this and the several
ways in which this has been carried out, by indoctrination, by force, by
cultural invasions, by wars etc. Throughout history it has failed
miserably.
Be
it the Roman Empire’s greed to spread its tentacles , be it the
attempt to homogenize religion which failed with Spanish Inquisition,
be it Nazism or Colonialism, all have failed.
Once
these attempts at homogenizing cultures, beliefs, political ideologies
have failed, now, the West is trying it in Trade and Economy.
As
before, it is bound to fail. But what we must learn from history and guard
ourselves against is the heavy price that humanity may have to pay for facing
and overcoming these attempts emanating from a few individuals charged with
fanatical obsession in terms of religious wars, Nazism, Colonialism etc
with all their destructive manifestations.
The impact of the previous obsession was restricted
to specific geographical area as they collapsed before they could successfully
spread everywhere. But the manifestations of the present obsession, read Globalization
of trade and economy affects the lives of everyone on the globe, either
directly or otherwise, and can cause irreparable trade imbalances, some environmental
damage etc which can even render life miserable for future generations.
The world with all its species were and are always
interconnected, interrelated and interdependent and that is the inevitable law
of nature. It did not start when these terminologies were popped up.
We
are in a more or excessively connected world, and it is a real global village
[ why not call it as global metro or global heaven or global city or
global town- because it has to appeal to the most gullible human
beings who choose to live in villages, work their ass out and gawk at every new
technology as if it has descended from some heaven – as portrayed in the movie
‘Gods Must be Crazy’.
Being a global village if one is lucky, may enjoy the sojourn of bucolic
beauty or encounter rustic behaviour.
We cannot afford to be xenophobic or nurture
any racial or regional bias.
We need to ensure that well entrenched or
propped up pride of nationalism lives comfortably with inclusive and inevitable
internationalism as a cooperative team.
Any mass frenzied anti -West attitude will
be an empty and impractical neo-snobbishness.
Similarly, the trite portrayal of the Orient as delayed civilizational world
will be kicked out with all the choicest abuses that such portrayal deserves
with all authentic evidence.
All or at least most of the natural laws and
universally useful and accessible benefits of scientific and technological
utilities to humanity as well as natural calamities transcend all barriers to
influence and to impact humanity equally.
Whether they are the thousands of scientific
discoveries, inventions, technological tools, rational and humanitarian conduct
all of them have managed to dominate despite the nudges of religious, regional
and all other limiting perspectives.
This long preamble is necessary,
as in the plays of George Bernard Shaw to set the context and tone.
Now, coming to present day
geopolitics, it defies all sorts of or at least many predictable
scheming, probable strategies, perceived conspiracy theories or even populist propaganda as there are counter
versions too every hyped publicity like phobia generation [ like global
warming], victimhood peddling [as minority rights, racial discrimination etc].
Though obviously the ‘deep state
players’, ‘mega financial institutions and many other tacit
coalitions engaged to exploit the natural resources and enhance
their respective control mechanisms are at play, they are not ‘the
whole of geopolitics’.
Had it been some conceivable whole,
then it would be easier to initiate and to instigate trouble as well as to
advocate remedial measures.
Anarchies and outrages have penetrated, into more
domains, aided by, easily accessible multitude of advanced technologies than
before.
So, geopolitics, too is not immune
to these trends. Of course, there can be no denying of the role of ‘The deep state’ and big financial
institutions.
In short, I have tried, a few years
back the overall picture of the present-day politics and geopolitics through
these slides and I have also written at length about “The Deep State” which
national leaders can ill afford to ignore.
Is it possible to de-clutter the unending debates
on certain issues? Or is it possible to oversimplify certain things in ‘Black
and White’?
Getting into the kerfuffle of the much mussed up
subject of most of the happenings in political and economic fronts especially
in present scenario would be risking reputations and exposing lack of lucid
understanding.
It is dangerous to oversimplify something referred
to by a single word or term for convenience of easy recognition. In reality ,
it may involve multiple factors of various hues and colours- clear, vague,
intentionally masked etc-all very clumsily and inextricably interwoven and
messily struck together.
Some of the things are not even distinctly visible
threads for us to decipher the knotty spots, rather it is having no slubs and a
clueless clew of knotted messy lump of multi-coloured threads [நூல் கண்டு சிடுக்கு] soaked in
thick mud of politicization further rendered fuzzy by the muddy waters of media
interpretations.
What is predominantly being done is reacting to
reactions and presumed repercussions.
While some may try, sincerely, to decipher the long-term
implications and impacts of certain happenings [I do not know whether we can even
qualify them as economic, financial, or political]. Only , the mercy of
evolutionary inevitabilities, over a time may unfold and make us see what have
been hampered, hidden or helped among
the multitude of possibilities- humanity is , in a way, back to square one, resigned
and perhaps, humbled to accept fatalistic results, despite all its much hyped
claims of and attempts to effect the changes it wants and the way in which it
wanted to have them.
