These following articles on language on number of users and
number of people wanting to learn some languages I have been reading along with
many books and articles on ever evolving aspects of language usage. They reveal
certain important statistics and superb reading. I am giving below links only
to those that talk of broader statistic based evaluation of relative power ,
usage and importance of languages.
However, in this context I would like to say that every
language that has existed, exists and the new languages that may emerge carry
and convey various aspects of life through several expressions and words which
carry with them as well as within them the culture where it has evolved from
and also many untold stories, perspectives, prejudices, beliefs, superstitions
and many other aspects of life and society at different times through its
etymological evolution.
The beauty is language can weave through imagination even
probabilities that may unfold in far away future.
Besides, these every language has its own reasons and
relevance for its wider usage which may not be possible to be narrowed down to
a few factors and generalized.
