Economic trends

Modern economics is too complex to be subjected to over simplistic narratives or single term labels or definitions.

Actually fundamentals of economics of demand and supply may be in tact as facts.

Who supplies, why and for whom and who pays for it all; who manufactures/ produces/provides/supplies all these are difficult questions to answer or brush aside in any over simplistic jargon.

How they market one product over another with similar features and utilities have also been intentionally complicated and made complex by many players and multiple factors. 

Some of these factors are based on  economics, commerce trade, availability and utility of products or service related;

Some emanate out of geopolitical scheming based on preferred type social engineering or political ideology based affinities;

Some are manipulated by a well organized vested interest international lobbies with hidden and unexpected competitions; 

Some are due to inevitable evolution of trends of emerging technological changes especially massive one in cyber world; 

Some are due to well entrenched regional, cultural and traditional beliefs and practices ( trends or taboos- for example one cannot find a consumer for nine (9 ) yards madisaru sarees or dhotis  in Los Vegas nor consumers for Los Vegas type bikinis for those bathing in Kavery; 

Some are due to publicity driven and propaganda pushed sudden craze;

Some are due to political mismanagement or manipulations or corruption etc

This is the case with naturally available resources as well.

Similar is the case with utilisation of educated, qualified and skilled technocrats, scientists, bureaucrats and other professionals who are also treated on same lines like products they will be imported as welcome migrants for their utility and contribution.

The maze of hidden factors and agendas, ulterior motives etc are difficult to decipher in present day global economic scenario.

In addition natural calamities also play a huge part.

Not that these are either totally new phenomena but the degree, intensity and the speed with which some of these factors evolve is difficult to analyze as most modern day developments are not gradual or incremental but disruptive.

Ultimately, what matters is the contextual relevance based priority and overall trade off that an individual or society or a nation or the whole humanity pays for the utilisation of specific product, comfort, service etc.

So, no one can over simplify most aspects of either micro or macro economic behavior as 'one size fits all' phenomena.

The requirements for certain basic needs like food, shelter , clothing , health care, mobility ( transportation of humans human beings or goods) all the above with their concomitant activities and the urge for the able bodied and some skill sets endowed qualified youth to do some activity are not likely to disappear come what may.

So, presumably nations with huge population  and the advantage of demographic dividends which naturally require these above referred necessities have the potential for being both the consumers as well as manufaturers and service providers.

Therefore, such nations may change the power equations as well as economic status as great powers either silently or assertively.
